This little birthday boy is such a character and it was a privilege photographing his cake smash! His parents chose the nautical backdrop which was great since no one had picked it since I got it last year and it is so nice.

Upon arrival at the studio this sweet little guy took one look at me and burst into tears. Oh no! Stranger danger phase in all its glory. It is normal for babies this age to prefer their parents and be wary of new faces. Although it has only happened about 3 times, some babies can be so upset that they cry the entire session. So, when this little cutie cried at the sight of me I was a bit concerned this might be one of those times. However, little Alastair warmed up fairly quickly and once that cake came out he was a happy happy boy!

This cute cake is from my peeps at Safeway. Their cakes are so yummy and the babies always love them. I must confess sometimes the cake looks so good I pick up one as well to enjoy later with my family.

Overall this session was a success and there are are so many great photos with a good variety of facial expressions that show his wonderful personality. He smashed that cake completely and thoroughly enjoyed every bite and at the end of the day that is even more important than great photos.
