Being a "boy mom"

I have heard the term “boy mom” for quite some time. It seemed pretty popular and I rarely heard moms talk about being a “girl mom” and I wondered why. You can even find t-shirts and other items that say “boy-mom”. #boymom is a real trend.

Now that I am a boy mom I get it! Having a toddler is a crazy ride and having a boy toddler is like being transported to another planet. I’m confused, bruised, and wondering what that smell is. Here are some things I experience, maybe girl moms experience the same!

  • Having a child that wants to wrestle and bite and roughhouse on a regular basis. Seriously, I have a lot of bruises. Did I tickle him too much as a baby? Why does he have this time to initiate the WWE every day?

  • Watching Bob the Builder and having the theme song stuck in my head ALL DAY.

  • Playing with toy trucks, cars, boats and planes, and making sounds I didn’t even know I could imitate.

  • Looking on google to see when the next monster truck or train show will be in town.

  • Having a living room full of small vehicles. 63 trucks and cars to be exact!

  • Trying to relax and watch tv and having my son set a truck on the top of my head. I didn’t get through this monster truck shoot without having the truck set upon my back as I was lying on my tummy taking photos.

  • Being able to identify an excavator, front loader, bulldozer etc.

  • Pointing out big trucks in the street to my son.

  • Learning how to operate a remote control monster truck and thinking it’s actually really fun!

  • Cleaning up a an entire room and having watching it get totally destroyed again in 2 minutes by one tiny human. And not learning the lesson because I still don’t understand how this is possible.

  • Having my heart completely filled with so much love it’s going to burst.

Being a mom is a rollercoaster of love and mess, but being a boy mom is the best!
